1. Using bad grammar, typos, misspellings
According to the experts most of the time job candidates are disqualified for typo error, misspellings and using bad grammar. Recruiters give more importance on basic communication skills and if you are going to do such mistakes then they won’t be entertaining you. So it is always advisable to re-check the resume once it is done by yourself or from some expert.
2. No Tech Jargon
Resume should allow your employer or recruiter to peep into your professional past which will make their decision making process simple. Using unnecessary tech jargon to impress others or look sophisticated is a bring turn-off for employer.
3. Follow rule of KISS- Keep it short and simple
Most of the people like to be descriptive and keep the length of the resume long. They fill it with unnecessary information which often confuses the employers and they don’t get the real picture of the candidate. Ideally for IT professionals the ideal length of a resume should be 2.5 pages and it should cover important aspect of the candidate’s Qualifications, experience and certifications etc.
4. Not clear regarding positioning
It is always advisable to make it clear in the start what exactly are you looking for and if you fail to do so that is a big mistake. Many employers prefer IT professionals to align their career goals with company’s hiring needs.
5. Using wrong format for your resume
There are many format of resume available but it is good if candidate stick to only one or two widely used industry formats. Using the right format helps employers to quickly access the objective qualification and experience.
