Just like the process of backing up of uKnowva, the restoration process also has 3 steps.
Step 1: Restore Your Code
- If you are restoring on different server other than the one you backed up the instance from, please make sure that you have the server side softwares are installed and running on the new server. For more information, visit this link
- Copy and paste the backed up zip file to the root folder of your WAMP, XAMPP, or LAMP. Once pasted extract the files there.
If you are restoring the files to another system, you will have to install the server files on that system before restoring the files. You can find the instructions here.
Step 2: Restore Your Database
You can restore your database by 3 methods—with phpMyAdmin, HeidiSQL, or MySQL command line.
Restore with phpMyAdmin:
http://php.about.com/od/learnmysql/ss/mysql_backup_4.htm OR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LproaPAfYvw
Restore with HeidiSQL:
https://doc.tiki.org/Import+database#C._Using_MySqlDumper_or_HeidiSql
Restore with MySQL Command Line:
http://php.about.com/od/learnmysql/ss/mysql_backup_2.htm
If your database credentials have changed, follow these steps after restoration:
- Delete your configuration file
- Download the new configuration file from here
- Save the new configuration file to the same location as the old file
- Open the file and make the required changes in the fields displayed below
- Save and run uKnowva. The new file will get automatically encrypted
Step 3: Restore the Documents Folder
Copy and paste the backed up zip file to the folder outside of public access. Once pasted extract the files there.
Then, open uKnowva and in Global Configuration enter the path of the location where the files are saved.
